Mandy and Andy to Spend a Day "Visiting the Farm"
Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) November 22, 2008 -- In their past two adventures, twin siblings Mandy and Andy have overcome their fear of thunder and gone to the zoo. In William J. (Bill) Adams' new book, "Visiting the Farm/Visitando la Granja," the kids visit their grandma and grandpa's country farm for a day.
Unlike other children's books Adams' "Mandy and Andy" series have really been two books in one, with an English version in one direction and its Spanish counterpart in the other, a featured which has been trademarked with the catchphrase, "Books Kids Can Flip Over" ™.
"There are schools in the country that are teaching Spanish as early as kindergarten," explained Adams. "The growth of the Hispanic population is tremendous, not to mention that in most countries, kids learn several different languages in school. I think that this is a good start for kids to get prepared for the world outside of the school halls."
For "Visiting the Farm," Adams has re-teamed with artist, Tom Stiglich, whose cute and simple visual representation of Mandy and Andy can potentially place them in same recognizable children's literary universe alongside the Berenstain Bears and the Peanuts gang.
Since 2006, when the debut book, "Hate that Thunder!/Odio ese Trueno!," was released, Adams has been promoting the series, doing signings and appearances in schools and libraries in Florida and Pennsylvania, as well as chain stores such as Borders, Waldenbooks and Barnes and Noble. He has been on several TV shows and is doing talk radio shows nationally promoting bilingual education starting in elementary schools
Mandy and Andy's second book "Goin' To The Farm/Vamos Al Zoologico" is available in many Zoo gift shops across the USA.
Currently, Adams is touring schools and books stores until Christmas and continuing throughout next year. He has also found interest from unlikely places. "We get website hits in 70 countries including China, South America and the UK," said Adams. "They're also selling our books in France."
"Mandy and Andy Books" videos are available to watch on MySpace, YouTube and FaceBook, some of which are also in Spanish, not unlike the books themselves.
For parents and teachers who are encouraging kids to either learn Spanish or English, "Mandy and Andy" is a great way to start, as each book also has a glossary of both English and Spanish terms in the book.
As America becomes more diverse and the Spanish-speaking population grows, Adams hopes this series will bridge cultural gaps between younger generations.
"I have read to 2,500 children and we've had a lot of press about these books, so clearly there are other people who want kids to know about these books," said Adams.
Additional information containing Bill Adams' touring schedule, as well as reviews and testimonials about the books can be found on the official Mandy and Andy website and blogs, www.mandyandandybooks.com and ChildrensBookBlogs.com, respectively. In addition to being available on the website books are distributed by worldwide wholesaler Baker & Taylor.
